The Performance Thermostat is an interactive DUMB™ Leadership Lab that helps business owners and leaders understand why higher performance can be difficult to sustain. Participants will identify the beliefs, habits, and self-image patterns that pull them back toward familiar levels and explore how to create more consistent, lasting performance.
Why Higher Performance Does Not Always Last
You have already proven that you can operate at a higher level. You have experienced periods of greater focus, discipline, productivity, or effectiveness. But over time, your performance may return to what feels familiar.
The challenge is not whether you are capable of more. The question is why that higher level does not consistently hold.
The Performance Thermostat is an interactive DUMB™ Leadership Lab designed to help business owners and leaders understand the internal patterns that regulate their performance. Much like a thermostat returns a room to its established temperature, your beliefs, habits, and self-image can pull your performance back toward a familiar baseline, even after meaningful progress.
Through guided reflection, structured exercises, and practical discussion, you will examine what may be creating this “snap-back” effect and how to move beyond temporary effort toward consistent performance.
During this session, you will explore how to:
Identify the level of performance you are currently conditioned to maintain
Recognize how you respond to both increases and declines in performance
Understand how self-image influences your behavior and results
Identify patterns that repeatedly return you to a familiar baseline
Use goal setting to support lasting identity shifts rather than temporary improvement
You will leave with a clearer understanding of what regulates your current performance and a more intentional approach to making higher-level performance part of how you consistently operate.
This session is for business owners and leaders who know they are capable of more, have reached higher levels of performance but struggled to sustain them, or want to create greater consistency without depending on short-term pressure or effort.
