I'm Tired of Watching Good People Struggle
By Mark Bittle
After more than thirty years of sitting across the table from business owners, one realization has never left me.
I'm tired.
Not tired of the work.
I'm tired of watching good people struggle when they don't have to.
I'm tired of watching business owners work harder every year while feeling like they're falling further behind.
I'm tired of watching people invest thousands of dollars into marketing that never had a chance of producing the results they were promised.
I'm tired of watching consultants tell people what to do without first understanding what they actually want to accomplish.
I'm tired of watching organizations make promises to support entrepreneurs, only to disappear when meaningful support is needed most.
I'm tired of watching businesses become dependent on advisors instead of becoming confident decision makers themselves.
Most of all, I'm tired of watching genuinely good people get taken advantage of simply because they trusted someone who sounded convincing.
I've seen it happen thousands of times.
A website that didn't solve the problem.
A CRM no one knows how to use.
Marketing campaigns with no strategy.
Expensive software searching for a purpose.
Consultants who create dependency instead of confidence.
Business owners who spend more time managing vendors than growing their businesses.
None of those are the real problem.
They're symptoms.
The real problem is that someone made an important decision without having the clarity they needed first.
That realization changed everything for me.
I stopped believing my job was to solve business problems.
My job is to help people make better decisions.
Because every successful business is simply the result of thousands of good decisions made consistently over time.
Every struggling business is usually carrying the weight of a handful of decisions that were made with incomplete information, misplaced trust, or unnecessary pressure.
That's why Connectionmark exists.
Not to tell people what to do.
Not to sell another program.
Not to convince people they need us.
We exist to help people think more clearly than they could before they walked through our doors.
Sometimes that means helping them realize they don't need us at all.
Sometimes it means introducing them to someone else who is a better fit.
Sometimes it means asking a question no one else has asked.
Because our responsibility isn't to create clients.
Our responsibility is to create better decisions.
That's also why we don't offer "free consultations."
We offer complimentary opportunities to experience how we think.
We make the first investment because we believe people deserve the opportunity to determine whether we're the right fit before making one of their own.
But when someone asks us to understand their business, analyze their challenges, evaluate opportunities, and help them make important decisions, that's not a quick conversation.
That's professional work.
That work deserves preparation.
It deserves attention.
It deserves experience.
And it deserves commitment from both sides.
Here's what I hope every business owner knows.
You shouldn't feel guilty for charging for your expertise.
You earned it.
Years of experience have taught you what books cannot.
You've learned lessons through failure, perseverance, success, and thousands of conversations.
People aren't paying you for information.
They're investing in judgment.
They're investing in confidence.
They're investing in making fewer expensive mistakes.
That's what I believe business owners deserve.
Not another opinion.
Not another sales pitch.
Not another quick fix.
They deserve someone who is willing to slow down long enough to help them identify the decision that matters most.
Because I've learned something after thousands of conversations.
When people make better decisions, businesses become stronger.
When businesses become stronger, families become stronger.
When families become stronger, communities become stronger.
That has always been the mission.
It still is today.
And as long as I have the opportunity to serve business owners, I'll continue investing in helping people think more clearly, decide more confidently, and build businesses worthy of the communities they serve.
That's why I do what I do.
Not because businesses need more advice.
Because people deserve better decisions.
